Hello, introducing myself
This is my first post here, so I thought to introduce myself.
Hi, I am David, and I am a blogger. I am so into blogging that I got my boss to agree to allow me to spend part of my worktime blogging, and to encourage others in the team to do blogging themselves. Does that make me an addict?
My other blogs are at 7gen.com, blogs.sun.com, and java.net. The first is my personal blog, on a domain that I've owned since 1996. The other two are with my employer, Sun Microsystems.
On this blog I will be covering information about bloggers representing corporations. This is the task I invented for myself when I conn..er..talked my boss into allowing me to blog as an official duty. As I learn the ropes, I'll be researching what this means and posting some ideas and observations here.
Being a corporate blogger has got to be a challenge to business as it's always been. The typical business operates in secrecy, keeping everything secret. But blogging is the opposite, as it's about sharing ideas with the world.
I sometimes read Jonathan Schwartz's blog (he's the president of Sun, so it's good to read his thoughts) and shake my head at the openness he's approaching this. He writes openly about what's on his mind, which is usually the message that Sun is trying to convey to the world. But, really, is this the antithesis of the old way of doing business, or what?
So, here goes.
